Application Specialist – After completing B.E or BTech in Biomedical, one can be appointed as an application specialist in product-based companies. Application specialists must possess strong technical knowledge about the company’s product. They must be able to provide proper training and technical assistance to the staffs and physicians while using the equipment. Companies will train application specialists on a particular product. Whether it is an MRI machine or ultrasound, the candidate must know the entire working application of the medical equipment including installation of software. He/She must be able to demonstrate the overall principle and working of the machine to the staffs and to conduct hands on workshops to students.


   Biomedical Engineer (In Hospital) – The role of a biomedical engineer in hospital includes,

·    Taking regular check list of the equipment available in the hospital departments and get signed by the department in charge.

·       Engineer must attend service calls from each department.

·       Engineer must maintain the documentation of each and every equipment available in the hospital. The documentation includes records of preventive maintenance and calibration checks.

·   Biomedical engineer should take care of the process needed while buying a medical equipment for the hospital’s need.

·    A biomedical engineer is recruited in the hospital for maintaining the overall medical equipment including laboratories, ambulance and other departments.

·       An Engineer should keep proper records of the invoices, quotations and other necessary files.

·     Biomedical engineer should contact the company personnel for doing monthly calibration and other maintenance checks. 


Customer Support Executive (CSE) – Customer support is mainly needed in manufacturing / distributor companies. The candidate must possess strong technical knowledge about the company’s product and excellent communication skill to communicate with the client end. Customer support executive must regularly update and upgrade their knowledge. They must be able to solve problems from the client end. They should keep proper record of the customers and regular follow up should be done. Problems should be resolved on time by providing best solutions.


  
Content writer – Now a days, most of the companies recruit for the role of content writer those who have knowledge in life sciences and with a biomedical background. Content writers are responsible for promoting the company’s product and services. Content writer should possess good communication as well as writing skills. They should write a clear content about the product or service offered by the company. They should conduct an online research and deliver an outstanding content. Content writer must be capable of promoting their content on social media, managing pages in social media sites, and edit blog posts. One must be well versed in SEO area while choosing their career as content writer.



         Documentation Specialist – The role of a documentation specialist is to maintain proper records of the company’s documents. One should maintain proper documentation on the list of available medical equipment, service records, sales documents, tax related files. Documentation specialist must often edit and review the documents.  They should maintain both technical documentation and other confidential documents.


 Field Service Engineer – Biomedical field service engineers will travel to places to complete their field work. Field service engineers must have good communication skill to communicate with the customers from different areas, diagnostic skill to properly diagnose the problem in the medical equipment and troubleshooting skill to resolve the diagnosed issue. Field engineers must attend service calls and provide the best possible service on time. They are mainly responsible for providing quality service to the customers. Field service engineer should be able to solve issues over the phone call as well as on-site. They should know the pricing of the equipment and other technical details of the equipment up to date. Field service engineers are the one who is responsible in doing preventive maintenance checks and calibration.


Quality Analyst – The role of Quality Analyst is mainly required in the production department. They must identify the defects within the production process and solve them. Quality analyst should maintain a correct objective and develop proper plans before performing any quality test. They should have enough knowledge about the quality standards and regulatory standards in developing a medical device. Quality analyst should resolve product issues and customer complaints as well.


        Rehabilitation Engineer - Rehabilitation engineers are responsible for the design and development of the product. They are specialized in developing applications for products that improve the quality of human life. Rehabilitation engineers work in assistive technologies, prosthetic devices, life supporting aids. They must be capable of addressing a problem related to the product. Candidates recruited for the post of rehabilitation engineer are placed in Research and development, as research consultant, voluntary organizations.


Sales Engineer – Biomedical sales engineer should have good communication skill and must be capable of communicating with customers, dealers and manufacturers. They should update their knowledge of medical equipment and their growth in the market. Sales engineer must know the newly emerging medical devices in the market. They must interact with the client in completing a sale successfully.  They should take care of the price listings, sales documents, quotations, invoices and other important files. Sales engineer is responsible for the sales and marketing of the product.


 Service Engineer – Biomedical engineers are recruited for the post of Service engineer in hospitals and companies. Biomedical service engineers are responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of an equipment. They must know the correct way of repairing complicated devices. Should have deeper knowledge of the electric circuits and electronic components needed for the medical device. They should also train other working personnel about the proper working of the equipment.  Service engineer must have the ability to work with their team and improve the quality of the products.
